PARTICIPATE IN MYGOV INDIA SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2018 & WIN CAHS PRIZES UP TO 100000/-

Our PM’s vision, MHRD, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2017, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. The initiative was a huge success. To reiterate the efforts towards our PM’s vision, MHRD, AICTE, i4C, and Persistent Systems is proud to propose the 2nd edition of this initiative – Smart India Hackathon 2018.
Till date, 45+ union ministries and departments and 18 state governments have already joined this grand initiative, making it much bigger than the previous edition. Through this initiative, govt. departments will directly engage with thousands of technical students and challenge them to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages and corruption.
Smart India Hackathon 2018 is a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems are posed to technology students for innovative solutions. It:
·         Harnesses creativity & expertise of students
·         Sparks institute-level hackathons
·         Builds funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign
·         Crowd sources solutions for improving governance and quality of life
·         Provides opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems

What are the prizes to be won?
·         Prizes for the top winners under different categories are
·         1st prize – Rs.1,00,000/-
·         1st runner up – Rs.75,000/-
·         2nd runner up – Rs.50,000/-

IMPORTANT DATES
Last date is 15TH DEC 2017.

Smart India Hackathon 2018 will have 2 sub-editions – Software as well as Hardware:
·         Software Edition will be 36 hour software product development competition, similar in concept to Smart India Hackathon 2017
·         The new Hardware Edition will be a hackathon where teams will be work for 5 straight days and build their hardware solutions. This competition would be limited to only 5 nodal centers with 20-25 teams each

Eligibility for Student Team Members (* SPOC Registration is mandatory to enable team registration)
Eligibility criteria:
·         Technical students from AICTE/ UGC/ IIT/ NIT/other govt. approved institutions.
·         6 students per team are mandatory.
·         All Team members must be currently studying in same institution.
·         Team members may be from different academic levels.
·         Team members could be from any of the technology streams/MCA/streams like Computer Science, MSc Electronics or equivalent may participate.
·         Once teams have registered, changes in team members will not be encouraged.
·         While selecting between 2 similar ideas, preference will be given to the team with maximum girl members.

Registration of College SPOCs (* Single Point of Contact for Educational Institutions)
Eligibility criteria:
·         Principal/ Dean/ Responsible faculty member of the college/institute.
·         Responsible for verifying the team registrations from their institutes.
·         Will be single point of contact for all communication addressed to their institutes.

Eligibility & Expectations from Mentor Teams (* Work collaboratively as a 2-mentor team)
Eligibility criteria:
·         Accomplished software techies (preferably industry professionals) with 6-8 years of hands-on experience in product development.
·         Self-motivated and passionate about technology challenges.
·         Mentor/ guide teams via Skype/phone/video chat/ in person before the finale to help convert ideas created by teams into digital prototype using appropriate architecture, UI design, technology stack, etc.
·         Each team will be assigned 2 mentors therefore we encourage mentors to apply in group of 2 so that the pair can be allotted one student team.
·         Be personally present at the Grand finale to work collaboratively with allotted team to build a working prototype.
·         Out-station travel may be necessary to participate in the Grand Finale. Mentors may indicate their 1st, 2nd and 3rd preference city while registering.

Eligibility & Expectations from Evaluator (* Mentor and SPOC are not eligible to be Evaluator)
Eligibility criteria:
·         Experienced IT/ Hardware industry professional.
·         Product development experience on various technologies/ domains preferred
Selection Criteria
·         Team Applications will be undergo a first round of evaluation, where evaluation criteria will include novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression.
·         While selecting between 2 similar ideas, preference will be given to the team with maximum girl members.
·         Shortlisted ideas will be communicated via email/ Smart India Hackathon SIH App. These teams will be eligible to appear in the SIH2018 Grand Finale.
